What is “Ecosystem Adaptability Science”?

Ecosystem adaptability science is a discipline that : 1) investigates the mechanisms by which organisms and ecosystems respond to environmental change, 2) elucidates properties that lend stability and robustness to organisms and ecosystems and 3) identifies conditions for maintaining ecosystem attributes such as biodiversity and ecological function in response to continuing change. The center aims to establish ecosystem adaptability science as a discipline to promote ecosystem management. World-class ecologists cooperating with faculties in engineering, agricultural science, economics and political science will conduct interdisciplinary research for solving highly complex ecological and environmental problems.
